402 - Stamford

Stamford post office, 56 km west south west of Hughenden, opened, according to Joan Frew (Queensland Post Offices), on 9 July 1899, which is incorrect as I have an earlier dated example. This numeral should have first been allocated circa 1885, either to Stamford, if it existed then, or to another post office with Stamford being a re allocation. Manning states that numeral 402 was previously incorrectly allocated to Blackstone which is now known to be numeral 404
